JUNE 10 – 14

Filed under: Uncategorized — mpkane @ 8:41 am

Last two weeks!

We will be using every available day for reading, math and writing. My report card grades will be entered on the 19th. Only after that day will 210 students help pack the room and close the school year with special activities.

RAY Olympics for 3rd and 4th grades.
This is a grand tradition! Students need to wear gym shoes and have their Olympic numbers displayed. Students may want to bring a plastic water bottle, healthy snack and sun protection.

Another date to remember is Friday evening, June 21 for the RAY TALENT SHOW. More details to come.

As always, thank you for all your support.

June 3 – 7

*** If you read this before 11 AM on Monday, there has been a change.  I WILL NOT be at a training Monday and Tuesday.  So I’m at Ray. Yay!

Our Research Projects will now be due on Friday the 7th. I chose the topic of States because I wanted the students to look up information in a variety of sources. If they take notes and write from those, the report will be in their own words. I thank parents for help with the reading.

Parents – there is a Curriculum Night for each grade level this week. Remember a notice in the HW folder? The purpose of this event is to prepare you and your child to start next school year already clear on the expectations. It will be very informative.

We continue to work on all academic subjects. It is fun to hit the basics and review as well as try new things.  We’re a little bit all over the place in MATH. We’re trying to get better at MENTAL Computing.  It is great to see the students feeling like they can “do” things they didn’t know they could do.  We want to end the school year with the best grades possible and celebrate our accomplishments.

The book we are reading aloud is The Music of the Dolphins by Karen Hesse.

The librarian in me wants to provide a list of recommended reading for the summer – especially the books on CD at the Library.

As always, thanks for your support.
