LAST WEEK BEFORE WINTER BREAK!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mpkane @ 9:27 am

Remain curious about your ability.

We have a full week to end 2012 and we will have a great time reviewing the content we’ve learned since September. We’ll have little “quizes” to show us what we remember and what we forgot. Math instruction this week will be an introduction to probability.

Check back to this blog for specific examples.

BE KINDER THAN NECESSARY

As we begin two full weeks of instruction before the winter break, Room 210 students are continuing with Statistical Landmarks in Math. They collected data last week by writing to the teachers on the 2nd floor. Looking at class size, they saw the difference a small value (our class size of 5) makes in the mean or average. Without my class, the average class size is 33. With my class, it was brought down to 28. We’ll finish up statistical landmarks this week AND review everything we’ve done this year.

4th graders have been learning about the U.S. Government in Social Studies. Ask your child about the three branches of government.

Thanks for reminding your son or daughter that Morning Fitness is part of our instructional day and full participation benefits them in more ways than a good grade on the report card.

Welcome December! THREE WEEKS UNTIL BREAK!

Fourth graders are working with DATA and finding the statistical landmarks. (minimum, maximum, range, median, mode, and mean) This is great fun and truly gives meaning to mathematical information. Ask your child to explain. There are lots of real life examples you could do at home.

WEDNESDAY is EARLY DISMISSAL – 12:15

Walking FIELD TRIP to see the NUTCRACKER on Friday morning December 14. YEAH!
