Now September 19! And a 3-day week.

Dear Parents,

Everyone was so glad to be back in school today. I really missed teaching my students. With the structure of the Multisensory Reading Program and the small class size, I’m sure we’ll make great gains and catch up to grade level.

Here is what we’re doing this week:
Math – Review and Assessment of PLACE VALUE, BASIC MATH VOCABULARY, ADDITION, SUBTRACTION AND MULTIPLICATION FACTS.
Reading – We have to establish the routine of the reading lessons. That’s where the homework will come from. It’s really not complicated, but the more it’s practiced, the faster the progress will be made.
4th grade parents – Please look at the letter about the choice between Spanish or Latin. This is an important decision and should be followed by a sincere commitment.

Finally, we write in our journals everyday! (up to half an hour) Students must take this seriously. They will see themselves getting better by using prewriting strategies (for example, a graphic organizer), conferencing, and rewriting. If the students do not try their best and use the time well, I will send the journal home for homework – with a note.

Please read with your child every day.  Discuss unknown words.

As always, thank you for all your support.
